My love of lace knitting and garment construction keeps me thinking up new designs

About Jonne

Primarily self-taught, Jonne studied with Master Spinner, Knitter, and weaving enthusiast Faith Wight, after beginning with Louise Walsh. He comes from an artistic background; his mother Rosalina was a sample embroiderer and his father a Master Carpenter/Furniture maker in (Funchal) Madeira, Portugal.

As a spinner, my favorite yarns to spin are for lace: Cobweb lace, fingering and sport weight. For sheer pleasure, I enjoy producing Rustica Yarns for my historically-inspired patterns for the Smith-Appleby House.

As a knitter, I am obsessed with knitting lace scarves, shawls and stoles. I thoroughly enjoy knitting garments with my own yarn combinations, some handspun and some commercially spun.

As a weaver, shawls and simple loom-controlled garments are still my favorite to produce. Scarves and shawls of varied texture are favorites.

A continuing commitment to fiber arts, my students, and customers at the shop keeps me working hard to stay abreast of trends and styles, while continuing to develop new techniques and new ways to integrate those techniques into my teaching and original designs.
