Shawl Show 

Beginning Spinning

Learn the basics of spinning your own yarn. Includes basic wheel maintenance, overview of short and long drafting, plying, using a niddy-noddy and spinning from the fold.

Class meets 6:30 – 8:30PM, Oct. 7, 14, 21, and 28

2008 Class Schedule 

Knitting Classes:

 

                 Beginner through Intermediate knitting

                 Wednesday evenings: all BUT first Wednesday evening of the month

                 6:30-8:30pm class work and then Independent knitting

                 $10.00 per person per class

                

                 Men Who Knit (or Want to!)

                 First Tuesday of the Month

                 7:00-9:00pm Class work and independent work; open ended

                 Registration is necessary $15.00

                

                 Sock Class

                 September – April: Sunday afternoon; 2:00-4:00pm

                 Beginning through intermediate sock knitting: turning heels, closing toe,

                 picking up sts for gusset. $10.00 per person

 

Spinning Classes:

                

                 Beginner: Four-week beginning spinning course. Includes basic wheel

                 maintenance, short and long draft overview, plying, using a niddy-noddy,

                 spinning from the fold.

                  Registration is necessary $165.00 includes wheel rental and four lessons.

 

                 Individual Lessons: covering specific techniques, drafting techniques, hand

                 carding, drum carder wool combs, blending, novelty yarns, etc.

                 Registration is necessary  $30.00 per lesson (approx. 1.5 hour class)

 

                 Spinning Diagnostics: First Wednesday of the month 6:30-9:00pm

                 Are you having problems with certain fibers, or a specific technique, or problems                

                 with your wheel? This is the group for you. Group works together on helping individual.

                 Registration is necessary $10.00 per class

 

Weaving Classes:

 

                 Beginner:

                 Four week beginning weaving course. Includes winding a warp, warping and 

                 threading a loom, reading drafts and patterns.

                 Registration is necessary dates and times TBA $165.00 includes table loom rental.

 

Crochet Classes:

 

                 Beginning crochet.

                 First Saturday of the month: 1:00 – 3:00pm

                 From chains, single crochet though double crochet and reading patterns.

                 De-mystify crochet! Registration is necessary $10.00 per class.

 

Tatting Classes:

 

                 Beginning Traditional Tatting:

                 Shuttle ball-and-shuttle techniques explored, as            

                 well as picots and pattern reading. Class meets the second Friday of the month.

                 Registration is necessary $15.00 per person.

 

Dyeing Classes:

 

                 Rainbow Dyeing:

                 June 21, 2008 10:00am – 12:30pm. Using Jacquard acid dyes   

                 and roving, class participants work together while learning to dye a rainbow dyed               

                 roving. Registration is necessary. $35.00 per person; 6 participants MAXIMUM.
