Workshops
EZ Percentage Sweater: Measure, calculate and knit your sweater your own size and styling for this great, super simple sweater! Knit in the round pullover, with short-row shaping and minimal seaming. Brown sheep yarn can be ordered at first class. Course runs 6 weeks.
Course fee: $65.00 1:00pm - 3:00pm Jan.30, Feb.6, 13, 20, 27, ends Mar. 6, 2010 (Yarns and needles available at shop.)
Lace Shawl: Using modern ring-shawl construction techniques and circular needles, you will combine traditional patterns and your own unique style to create your own "heirloom". Technique can make either a fine-gauge or heavy gauge (hap) shawl. Course runs 4 weeks.
Course fee: $65.00 1:00-3:00pm June 5, 12, 19, 26, 2010. (Yarn and needles available at shop.)
Long Draw for the Spinner: You will blend short fibers (using your own hand carders) and then make rolags for spinning true long draw. Practice with hand carders as well as working from commercially processed fibers will be covered. Course runs three weekends.

Weekly classes: all weekly classes begin with a short swatch which reviews a technique, then independent knitting (with help if necessary.)

Crochet for the knitter: The two different crochet hook holds, basic stitches and finishing-off techniques will be explored.

Tatting with a Shuttle: Traditional tatting using shuttle and ball-and-shuttle techniques. Half stitch, double stitch, picots, and joins.

Rainbow-dyed skeins: Ever want to dye your own skein of sock yarn? We will have three different color ways of Jacquard Acid Dyes to choose from, and pre-wound sport-weight yarn ready to go to the dye-pot.

Lace Knitting Doily: Modern knitting techniques used to create traditional looking lace knitting doily. Beginning on double pointed needles, transferred to a 20" or 24" circular needle, these beauties are not nearly as hard to do as they look. The doily is begun in class then completed independently.
